What's Brewing: September 7, 2017 Edition

The dog days of summer can really make you thirsty for a beer. And since we're beer lovers too we know what it's like to crave something big and hoppy, dark and sweet, or crisp and fruity. We heartily support beer diversity and that drives our passion to carry a very wide selection of homebrew kits, brewing ingredients, and of course beer. Like beer you and your tastes are varied and diverse, and that's a beautiful thing.

We also know that sometimes you might like to switch it up and try new things. We are here to help all our customers--beer brewer, beer drinker, or both--explore the vast beer universe. In this been-there-done-that world, it is our mission to bring in fresh new finds you will be excited to try. And please, if you know of a particular item or a beer we may have missed, let us know!

PS: Did you know that we also sell retail kegs from time-to-time, and can also special order Virginia-distributed beer in for you by the case or keg? Yup, several customers got kegs to go from us this past holiday weekend. Feel free to ask the next time you visit.

Growlers, Crowlers and More!
Our fridges are always full of great beers and we know it's sometimes hard to choose. But don't worry, now you can easily try them all! With our popular can seamer we can fill 16 ounce "Personal Pint" crowlers and some customers are creating their own custom four, six, or even eight packs! And of course if you really like something we gladly fill 32 or 64 ounce glass growlers.

Our Beer Me! list is powered by the Untapped app. You can use the app to share what you are drinking, find out about beers, breweries, and venues, and get recommendations from friends. Once you download the app, search for myLocal HomeBrew Shop under "Venues" so you can follow us and opt in for notifications whenever we add new beers. We specialize in IPAs, Farmhouse styles and Sours, and local beers in general. You won't want to miss out.

All the Yums! Ice Cream from Jeni's
We need to switch topics for a moment to discuss something very serious. What are you having for dessert tonight? If your taste buds need a little TLC, then come on down and indoctrinate y
ourself to the cult of Jeni's. Once you try it you will find out why even the most stoic of people will full-on gush about this ice cream. It's that good.

Jeni's teamed up with Stone Brewing to create an ice cream that captures the flavors of Stone's Mocha IPA. Their beer has the bitterness of an IPA, yet also the cocoa-coffee indulgence of a mocha stout. Jeni's Mocha Black Cherry hits all these notes and then some: soft coffee ice cream with bitter cocoa nibs, co
mplemented by a luscious ribbon of sweet-sour cherry sauce.

We also have Dark Chocolate Peppermint, Sweet Potato with Torched Marshmallows, Boozy Eggnog, The Matterhorn, and Jeni's Extra Bitter Hot Fudge Sauce to top it all off. It all just sounds too good to pass up.

And remember... you earn Rewards Points for buying anything and everything in the store, even ice cream and all other goodness!
