What's Brewing: October 1, 2016 Edition

Or, OMG! as those young folks say. You may have noticed that we've expanded our product line to include ACTUAL BEER! And, we're not talking beer flavored watery beverages... we are talking the real-deal. The good stuff. If it's fun, funky, yummy or hard to get... it's on our radar (and on our shelves and in our new keg fridge and growler station). Yup, you heard right! We've put our mad kegging skills to work and installed a 6 tap growler filling thing of beauty. So grab your growler and head down to the Falls Church store. You won't be sorry! Don't have a spare growler? We do! And if you bring in your own growler please make sure it's odor-free, clean, and ready to fill. 

Save-A-Buck Sundays: Sundays from 12 noon to 4 pm get a 64 oz growler filled with one of our six rotating beers and we'll take $1 dollar off that beer's price.

Yakima Valley, Washington

Tasting Notes: Ripe raspberry and red currant notes with black pepper and fresh mint leaf notes. Solid tannin providing mouth feel and structure

Food Pairings: Herb crusted lamb, Paprika-rich Goulash stew, Aged Cheddar

Sweetness: Dry | Body: Medium | Oak: Medium | ABV: 13%*

Tuscany, Italy

Tasting Notes: Expressively refreshing, peach, green apple and fresh lime notes with a hint of tarragon on the finish. Sip-worthy on its own with a quenching acidity.

Food Pairings: Regional Italian cuisine like pasta tossed in olive oil, Fresh shellfish, Grilled chicken or turkey

Sweetness: Dry | Body: Light-Medium | Oak: None | ABV: 12.5%*

Valencia, Spain

Tasting Notes: Tempranillo, Carnacha and Bobal bring lush and hedonistic qualities. Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah offer body and structure. Notes of black and red fruit, cherry cola, anise and white pepper. Powerful yet subtle mouth feel

Food Pairings: Braised meats, rich sauces

Sweetness: Dry | Body: Medium-Full | Oak: Medium-heavy | ABV: 13%*

San Joaquin Valley, California

Tasting Notes: Blanc De Noir is a French term which means "white wine from dark grapes". No skin contact after pressing keeps the color  light and tannins at bay. Off-dry with notes of crabapple, white peach, grapefruit and hint of strawberry.

Food Pairings: Sliced Ham, Grilled white fish, Eggs benedict

Sweetness: Off-Dry | Body: Light-Medium | Oak: None | ABV: 13%*

Riverland, Australia

Tasting Notes: Full bodied blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. Notes of black currant, cigar box, black cherry and raspberry. Warm spice rounds out the finish.

Food Pairings: Protein-rich dishes like grilled steak, Avoid spice or heat
Sweetness: Dry | Body: Medium-Full | Oak: Medium-heavy | ABV: 13%*
