What's Brewing -- January 15, 2016 Edition
Happy New Year! We hope you have all sorts of yummy recipes planned for 2016. We do! And, as always, just yell if you are stuck for inspiration. We can always point you in the direction of an interesting kit, recipe tweak or book to change up your beer and wine making routine. Speaking of change, we've got a few changes up our sleeves as well.
Starting on January 19, 2016 the store will be open until 6:30 pm on weeknights. Here is our new schedule:
As a small, locally owned business, we have befriended other small, like-minded businesses along the way. Many of the local breweries come in for ingredients and equipment and we have supplied local kombucha and coffee artisans with equipment too. This area is so rich with fascinating people making tasty treats that we thought, let's start introducing these products to our customers who also like to make their own tasty treats. It will be a match made in heaven! So here goes! First up, local chocolate!
Meet Potomac Chocolate
Years ago Mary worked with a pretty cool IT guy while working on financial newsletters... snore.... Fast forward seven years and now their paths cross again. Mary's friend, Ben Rasmussen, founded Potomac Chocolate in 2010 and became the first bean-to-bar chocolate maker in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. In an absurdly small workshop, Ben transforms raw cacao into award-winning craft chocolate. Just like home wine making and beer brewing, the process is focused on highlighting the unique flavors of each ingredient. This is why it is with great pleasure that myLHBS will carry the full selection of chocolate bars from Potomac Chocolate. Come on in the store and try them out.
