It's Time To Get Your Jolly On!

December 20 Sunday Funday - Killer Kegging Deals

We know you love making home brew. We do too! But you know what we like even better? Sharing it with friends and family!

Oh sure bottles are fine, especially for gifting, but to serve up a bunch of brew to a thirsty crowd you really need to think about kegging. It's actually not that hard to set up and with this week's specials—it's pretty easy on your wallet too. Will a kegging system fetch you more kisses under the miseltoe or make you the hero of the holidays? Maybe... we can't say for sure. But it
couldn't hurt!

So make a stop at myLHBS part of your holiday prep. Remember, these Sunday Funday deals are available in-store from Noon to 4 pm on Sunday, December 20 only.

Sunday Funday Is Back December 13!

This week's Sunday Funday deal is for our wine makers and future wine makers.
Winexpert Gift With Purchase
Wine making is a satisfying hobby. And compared to Homebrewing, the process is less labor intensive. One company that is definitely a winemaker's friend is Winexpert—their kits come in a wide variety of premium wine styles, are virtually fool-proof and produce tasty wine. What's not to love? How about an extra gift for buying a Winexpert kit? Would you love that more?

OKAY, then come into the store this Sunday, December 13 and purchase any 6-gallon Winexpert kit we carry and we'll give you a $20 myLHBS gift card as a thank you. You can use that card on your next vist to purchase bottles, cleanser, corks or even a book! We have a second gift for you too. A handy food and wine pairing guide to help with your holiday entertaining.

What's Brewing--December 4, 2015 Issue

This year we have done the impossible. We have already finished our holiday shopping. How did we do it? That could be a whole newsletter, but we put our minds to it and now we can spend our free time in December hanging out together watching movies by the tree and crooning to holiday music as we bake cookies. Maybe we didn't get the lowest, crazy, extra-special sale day price, but we feel the trade off is well worth it.

At myLHBS we provide a great selection and competitive pricing every day so that you don't have to waste precious time waiting for a flash sale or driving all over town looking for a hard-to-find item. If you haven't been in the store for a while, stop by and see our expanded, full-to-the-brim space or shop on our always-open, 24/7 web store Local ground shipping is typically one day.

Happy Holidays and thank you for shopping with us. We truly value your business.

What's Brewing -- October 30, 2015 Issue

Holiday creep—don't you just hate it? You go into the grocery store for that last minute bag of Halloween candy and bam, 75% of the row is already devoted to candy canes and other holiday paraphernalia. It's pretty annoying. But when you are a beer and wine hobbiest you get a free pass on holiday creep. You have to think ahead to make sure your masterpiece will be ready in time to share and give away during the holiday season.

Brewer’s Best BIAB Recipe Kits Are Back

Brew-In-A-Bag Kit
We have seen a lot of interest in the BIAB (Brew-In-A-Bag) method of all-grain brewing as it seems to be an attractive choice for brewers making the transition from extract brewing to all-grain brewing.  So since you asked, we’ve brought back the line of Brewer’s Best BIAB recipe kits. According to Brewer’s Best, this method has several advantages over traditional all-grain brewing:

  • Simple - The BIAB method is easy and ensures the best possibility of sucess for an extract brewer to brew an all-grain batch.
  • Ease of Entry - Very little equipment is needed. Just a 42 quart or larger pot, a propane burner and a very large grain bag
  • Space Saving - Homebrewers in urban dwellings appreciate the small footprint of the equipment needed for the BIAB method compared to the traditional all-grain method.
  • Less Time Consuming - With less equipment there is less setup and cleanup.

Meet our Little Friends: Imperial Organic Yeast

Dennis getting chummy with our first shipment of Imperial cans.
We are just so excited to start carrying Imperial Organic Yeast in their "Pitch Right" cans. Until now only 2 of the main ingredients used to brew beer were available as certified organic; malts and hops. Imperial Organic Yeast has changed this and now provides brewers with a certified organic yeast option.

It's that wonderful time of year! The time of year when our outstanding selection of wine kits expands to include some rare and special breeds.

This fall's limited edtion WineExpert kits sound so good, we may have to just make them all. These kits represent a diverse cross section of the world's favorite wine regions. These delicious wines hail from Piedmont and Veneto, Italy; Paso Robles, California and Murray Darling, Australia.

Read up on each varietal and check out the videos, too. We're sure there will be one or two that piques your interest.

The GrainFather: I Tried To Break It. And It Won.

By now you've probably heard about the New Zealand Miracle known as The GrainFather. You may even have considered buying one but hesitated without knowing more. Maybe like me you thought to yourself "surely it..." (<-- this is where you insert your concern and I try to answer it). So what better way to find out than to buy one and burn it in? Yup, I'm brewing and phlogging about it here (photo-logging get it? Yes, I know it's not a real term). Today we are brewing up a tasty American Wheat Ale I call GumbyFace: 5.5% ABV, about 30 IBUs, nice and crisp with a bit o' hop goodness.
